Potential project

A place to talk about modifications to the cab and body parts of trucks

Potential project

Postby scania-alba » Tue Jan 13, 2015 10:06 pm

I am getting bored and stupidly vowed to the wife I wasn't going to buy any more trucks. However I have a scania lying around not really doing much as it turned out to be a pretty shoddy build and doesn't drive well ( first build) and seems like it could do with a rebirth.
I was thinking of the following, as yet undecided and as such may never fly.

But trying to get my head round the cab. I know it's a Pcab and grill and air deflectors will need shortening, along with wind deflectors at rear of cab.

The thing I am not to sure about though is
1) the roof, it doesn't look like a low roof, but too low for the roof in the 620 kit.
And 2) the length of the cab, looks shorter than the one in the 620 kit.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated or if anyone can offer advice :-bd .

I would say the cab is the same size just the rear side window is a panel on the R
series.

Not sure on the roof either, looks low, maybe it is the spoiler that makes it look different.

Scania Uk website will list all the different cab options so maybe worth a look.

Never thought about the scania site. Just had a look and would appear the P320 pictured can come with a low, normal or Highline roof with the standard sleeper cab, so I suppose the Highline roof can stay and I don't need to shorten the length of the cab.

Off for some more consideration on this one. Too much to think about. New cab or strip and repaint, mfu or replace, new rails or extend. Too many questions.

Maybe I just need a trip to Tunnocks to see the truck or just pick up a Caramel Wafer, mmmm.

Scania do a Lowliner, Highliner and Topliner.... I'd say it looks like a Lowline

I googled it and the Reg no is K8PAK and comes up as a Scania P-srs D-class P 310 Db 6x2 Slp (Box Van).

Thanks for that info Teri.

As with most of my builds I tend to concentrate on livery replication opposed to truck replication, therefore allowing a little artistic licence. Think if this project flies it may turn out to be a Highline as that is what I have to hand. I seen two of these on the road recently, think I just need to get in for a closer look.

the livery would be quite easy... it's the 6x2 chassis with rear lift that'd be the main build task... :-bd

Well, I have decided this one is going to fly, decided to scratch build the box, just ordered some ally angle and sheets, number plate stickers, scania window logos, window air deflectors, steering arm, metal rod ends. Just need a motor, new cab kit and to figure out how long I need to make it before starting and extending the chassis. Oh and arrange a visit to the tunnocks factory.

Once I get started I shall get a conversion thread on the go, as always it will no doubt be a slow one.
